While all medicine may be said to have an element of control or social control to it, the US healthcare system may be more about this control.
So, Code Blue is all about: * Exposing US healthcare being used for social control, and forms of control that include... * Exclusion (The poor, minorities, groups perceived to be immoral, etc. Exclusion of minorities, poor from profession) * Blaming the victim (Such as with STDs) * Delegating morality (Pre-existing conditions and more) * Disavowal (People who get their healthcare from us telling us we don't need their form of healthcare) * Marginalization (Inferior models, war vs public health crisis when it comes to certain drugs) * Polarization (Actually creating class, race, and gender differences through healthcare system) * Coercion (Insurance through work as access) * Centralization (Daraprim prices, patents, and insurance companies as gatekeepers to care) * Standardization (One of the other reasons why it's frowned upon to get prescription drugs from Canada) * Other forms of this social control (Such as definition of normal)
And getting healthcare system to mitigate this and treat injuries, illnesses, and disabilities
We will be looking for things related to this here, how to resist these forms of social control, and making sure health care reform mitigates these controls and goes to a point where it's actually about treating illnesses, injuries, and disabilities.
