Pensacola man gets job back after losing it due to false-positive drug test Things are starting to turn around for a Pensacola man who lost his job after he was arrested for a crime he did not commit. Ronnie Gaines said he returns to work on Monday. "It's probably one of the best things that's happened to me in a long time," Gaines said. WEAR-TV introduced you to Gaines last month. He was pulled over on October 6 and arrested after law enforcement found white powder in his car and it came back positive for cocaine. Gaines said it was whey protein powder. State lab tests found it was not drugs and charges were dropped. However, he was still left jobless. "I've had many downs, not very many ups throughout this," Gaines said. "Sleepless nights, restless days, just trying to make sense of it all." On Wednesday, he got the good news that he could have his job back. Gaines will be able to resume working with at-risk youth with a program through the Juvenile Justice Department. His fight for justice is not over. "These test kits are an issue and a concern I think for innocent folks like myself that work hard in this community," Gaines said. He has hired a lawyer to look at taking legal action against the company that makes the test. "There's a pattern of failure with these tests and people like Mr. Gaines have been pulled off the street unfairly," Gaines' attorney, Ian MacLaren said. weartv.com/news/local/pensacola-man-gets-job-back-after-losing-it-due-to-false-positive-drug-test
